Brilliant house inspection! I'd dashed around trying to clean the house beforehand, and ended up giving things a surface wipe instead of a proper scrub in the hope that I could clean it better before the contract cleaners came round. However, this will not be necessary - the lady explained that the whole point of the cleaning scheme is that they do all the cleaning up to the required standard and that I needn't wash down doors or scrub the kitchen floor ("You can give it a mop if you like") or wipe out cupboards.

The best thing is that they have decided that the carpets are reaching the end of their life and they will replace them throughout the house, so I don't even need to vacuum and the cleaning charge will be reduced by £40!

I do have to give the limescale a serious attack (I feel rather foolish that we have had a bad limescale problem in the bath for 2 years now due to a drippy tap, and it never occurred to me to consider the possibility that changing the washer might stop the dripping), wipe the oven with a damp sponge (oh no, what an arduous chore!), and sort out the garden with weeding and digging. That'll be plenty to keep me busy for the next week (might save the lawn for [livejournal.com profile] major_clanger when he returns at the weekend).
