Terrence Higgins Trust do was fun, quite odd to begin with as we knew no one and the Small World Effect didn't kick in. Met some interesting people, ate lovely food, and had Beverley Knight sing for us after pudding!
On Friday I went to see a dance production of Gormenghast with
rhubarbfool and a friend - I also spotted
the_mendicant, Colin Greenland and Susanna Clarke in the audience. I would have gone to say hello in the interval, but my back was foiled by the seats - very high up, and our feet didn't touch the ground. There was also a nice thick handrail at seated eye level. Shockingly bad design for such a new theatre. We had booked early and got reserved seats; there was also an unreserved seating area, which annoyingly was what would normally be called the stalls - down at the front, normal seats, no restricted view. That's twice I've gone to that theatre (The Junction 2), and twice I've been very uncomfortable.
This time it was so bad that at the interval I found I could hardly walk;
rhubarbfool found me a nice out-of-the-way corridor to lie down in for a minute, but I had to phone Simon to collect me and missed the second half. Today I am better enough for pootling round the house, but not up to a long-anticipated barbecue. Bah!
