Pub

Had a nice evening at the pub last night:

- waiting for the bus at the station not so fun, but trip home was seamlessly smooth (hooray for matter transportation systems!);

- describing of Little, Big to someone in a way that made them respond "So it's like Goth Borrowers?" more fun, plus ensuing discussion of having an emo-use living in your skirting boards;

- two drinks cost less than the bus fare!;

- disturbing moment when I sipped my second half of cider and thought it tasted lagery, maybe it had been topped up from the wrong tap? Helpful bar staff poured me a drop Definitely from the cider tap so I could check. It's hard to say, but I think there was a difference. Maybe 10% lager? It was more of a texture thing; a bit more soapy and less astringent. They gave me a fresh drink anyway, which was nice, but I feel guilty now :-(

- the raspberry stout was popular, but I didn't try it as I'm sure Sainsbury's orange and raspberry juice crush tastes a lot more like raspberries;

- astonishment was expressed that I have 750 unread books. This is enough to keep me going for 15 years at current rates;

- [livejournal.com profile] fivemack came over "to apologise - I can't come to your party, as I'll be in Reykjavik." I think it was more of a boast than an apology... But we'll be okay at the party if we run out of frozen garlic bread or similar such comestibles, because Tom's gone to Iceland. Chortle!

- returned borrowed book; loaned DVD; collected Recombination flyers;

- was caught out as usual by the odd time contraction - 9pm-last orders flies in a blur, and I never manage to catch an early bus.

- EDIT: a link for [livejournal.com profile] nassus: the colour grue

Plans for today:
- be up ready for builders to come at 08:30 (where are you guys?) and clear the spare bedroom (above the leak) and living room (below the leak) and do the washing up hide the washing up in the dishwasher.
- work from home. EDIT: You're not coming, that's where you are. The guy from Laing homes came all the way from London, waited for you for half an hour, and you've decided there's been a "failure in communication". Bah.
- run a few errands.
- possibly go for dinner with John
- before going to Faust the Panto.
