And so will I, today. I'm doing a Newmarket Road/Cherry Hinton Road/Carlton Way triangle today (stopping off for tea and pancakes en route) which looks to me like 13.5km/8.5 miles (more, if I go via Tesco to pick up some things). I've been feeling pretty down this last week and it's good to feel I want to leave the house again.
8.5 miles pales into insignificance when I think of my ambition to do the 26-mile version of the Cambridge Oxfam Walk in May. They've just put up details, and it will be in Wimpole Hall this year; instead of the 7-mile loop or 14-mile loop or both for 21 or both plus a bit for 26 they have 4/9/13 which can be combined in various ways.
I think the only thing to stop me trying this would be incompatible timing of exams in Edinburgh ('late April to mid May'). In the mean time, any hints on training for long-distance walks? (On pretty flat and hospitable terrain) I'll certainly need to get some proper shoes/boots...
