Driving lesson - check! I'm getting there, I even did an adequate reverse parallel park but I don't know that I could repeat it. Since driving the automatic I've got a better feel for the impact of my seating position and I've been better in the manual.

First Spanish lesson - we're all at different levels, so it could take a while to gel. I brought my Spanish-English dictionary, the one that used to be my grandma's, that I see was published in 1951. It does not contain the word "computer", but does contain the word "comptroller". I've remembered a lot of the grammar, but forgotten most of my vocabulary; we were given sentences with the words in the wrong order, and I could mostly correct them. One did confuse me - the answer was "El coche es más rápido que el caballo", which most students translated as "The car is faster than the horse." My olde dictionary had it that "The carriage is faster than the horse." And that's wrong! Surely the horse and the carriage must travel at the same speed...

Then off to the Picturehouse for another Karloff double bill - The Black Cat (pretty good) and Bride of Frankenstein. Watching the second, I wonder if Jar Jar Binks was modelled after Minnie the housekeeper at all? They caper around, with silly voices, being annoying, and occasionally explaining the plot at people.

But where was I? Oh yes: Y-a-w-n
