Had a nice day yesterday, alternating quiet with social. In the morning I settled down to making an army of robots while listening to CDs (Django Reinhardt is really quite super). [livejournal.com profile] woolymonkey called at 12:30 to say they had room at their table for lunch, and there was a spread of [livejournal.com profile] bugshaw-friendly food and indoor fireworks and a board game. Thank you! For pudding I brought rainbow tapioca pearls, cooked with dried sweetened cranberries, and tossed with redcurrant jelly and honey. Looked very festive.

Then home to feed the [livejournal.com profile] ozymandias_cat, and rest up as I'm still a bit achy from lemons. Just in time for Doctor Who. Yes, I know there's iPlayer, but it feels different on television.

I'm reintroducing corn today for three days. Started off with gluten free cornflakes (most off the shelf cornflakes have barley malt in, which does seem to make them taste nicer), and have packets of polenta and corn pasta for later. Tastier than rice! Joints still ache a bit, but if corn is bad they'll get worse and if it's good they should get better. It's a start anyway, eh.

Does five make an army, for the purposes of 101 Things #98: Make army of robots? I made another paper one, and a dinobot with a proper electrical inside and cardboard exoskeleton with terrifying jaws and a super chompy action as it trundles across the carpet, but it was not as well suited to stop motion animation.

This is my first little animated movie, and I now see how I could have done it much better. Start with a tripod, a shutter release other than the camera button, better lighting, work out a better balance between image quality and file size, and stick that darned wallpaper down properly next time! Look at a few test images on a decent screen, rather than the camera's tiny one. Pick a better colour scheme for the credits, and go back and add thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ozymandias_cat for being a complete star and not helping at all, not even pretending to look interested. Robots from the Accord Publishing Fold Your Own Robot calendar, a nice piece, and a gift from [livejournal.com profile] tamaranth. Thanks, T, and I didn't look at the price!
