My mother's recipe for Chocolate Treacle Fingers, the yummiest flapjacky biscuit ever in the universe. The treacle really adds something special.

6oz (170g) porridge oats (not the jumbo sort)
6oz (170g) sugar
4oz (110g) dairy free spread (or butter)
2oz (60g) cocoa
1 tablespoon black treacle
few drops of vanilla essence
pinch of salt

Cream fat and sugar
Add remaining ingredients and mix well
Spread and flatten mix into greased shallow baking tray (appx 28x18cm)
Bake at Reg 4 or 180°C for 25 mins
Cut into fingers while still warm

Mum says: I suggest the metric conversions above but haven't tried it! I think that one could probably round-up the butter but round-down the spread (it has a higher water content than butter) otherwise it could get too soggy??

This recipe is published under the Bugshaw Chocolate Tithe Scheme. Anyone may use this recipe to produce Chocolate Treacle Fingers for their personal use, but should tithe 10% of the biscuits to me. I can live in hope...
