Dept of Slightly Less Spontaneity

Going to see Control at the Arts Picturehouse on Friday, the Joy Division biopic. I'm glad I've not missed this completely, and I have been warned that it is terribly depressing. I doubt anyone's around at 16:30 on a Friday, but if you are you're welcome to join me. And perhaps afterwards we could dine on sunflowers.

Very depressing: well, depends how you look at it a bit. It was a serious kick in the teeth, even though I knew what was coming, which really surprised me. I came out more thoughtful than depressed though. And angry perhaps. It's fucking good though.

I watched it on a plane, which made the music less good, but I agree it's a good film (if rather bleak).

Definitely, especially given the cast perform all the music themselves.

There's a couple of places where there's background music to some scene other than the band playing, and in those cases they do use the original Joy Division tracks, but yeah, it's really impressive how they play all the rest themselves. And it's such good music too of course.

I am looking forward to it :-)

I must buy more Joy Division. Preferably on vinyl ;)
