On Saturday I watched a Boris Karloff double bill of Frankenstein/The Mummy. Shivers went down my spine when Karloff came in as The Monster - that's a fabulous performance. Other than the shots of shadows across the inside of the stone windmill, there's not a lot to recommend it. Most of the rest of the characters are a bunch of twits, and the book does a better job on the story. Shivers went across my arms in the cinema's air conditioning.

I was surprised on my way out to see some sort of country fair happening on Parker's Piece. I made my way through a few marquees with jewellery/card/stuff stalls, and happily came across one selling chilli sauces. I have a jar of harisa, one of 'pepperjam', and a caramelised red onion marmalade which seems to have half emptied itself already. Oh dear! (om nom nom)

I went to a party in the evening but got rather stressed towards the end, just before I left to see The Lark, a modern horror film that is staying with me. Mary Woodvine gives an excellent performance as Niamh. This morning I ache all over my shoulders - was my stress the major upper body exercise I got that day? And is this why they call it "getting uptight"? Ooch. But I did get a Plokta and it was marvellous :-)

Today I'm going to see a programme of short films, some machinima on the theme of dreams, and Preserve, with a brief break between the last to find somewhere that will serve me a quick dinner amongst the throngs of people who all have the same idea.
