Domestic Techno-Goddessery

What would be handy is something like the magnetic whiteboard in the kitchen, but Internet-enabled - so you can check when the bins go, and add items to an online grocery order as you think of them. And display recipes, and, and...

There are various projects using cheap tablet PCs (or touch-screens linked to a hidden PC) which do related things and can also play films. The main issue would be that the software would be much more hacked-together than I think you want - you'd have a webpage for you Tescos order but you'd need to create the order yourself, there would be no neat streamlining, then you'd need to fire up a different program for your reminders (and a different one again for movies).

Hmm, interesting. I could see this being very useful. Although the suggestion above about a magnetic iPad case doesn't seem a bad one since there are already a few online shopping apps for the iPad (at least Tescos and Waitrose, I think) plus some very decent calendars ...

Many years ago some BT and related techies came up with something like this, using a screen built into the microwave door. Dunno how far they got with the demo/prototype. Good idea which was too far ahead of its time, but it should be even easier to do now.
