Interview Meme

I'm doing this again, as the questions seem to have gotten shorter and sillier ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] grahamsleight (thanks) asks:
1. What is that thing you're holding in your left hand in your LJ icon? A paintbrush? A stick of celery?
It's a Cadbury's Flake. Not a spliff! (Ref)

2. Of all the conventions you went to on your TAFF trip, which would you most like to return to? (Assume money no object.)
They were so different! I'd like to spend another few days at DeepSouthCon chatting with people, it felt as comfortable as sitting in a living room.

3. Just after the Glasgow Worldcon, Cheryl Morgan pointed out that (I forget the exact figures) there were 1,000 subscribers to Emerald City but 100,000 to Waterstones's sf newsletter. How does fandom reach the 100,000?
Brand recognition and prevalence. Fandom™ needs to become a market leader!

4. What piece of music is currently (or was most recently) playing in your house?
I am delighted to reveal that it is Mr. Slater's Parrot, a song by those god-like beings The Bonzo Dog (Doo Dah) Band.

5. What's the etymology of the "bug" name?
"Entomology" would have been a more fun question, but I wouldn't know the answer to it ;-)
Because I cause computers to not work?
Because I cause irritate programmers?
Because it is nice and short and fits on con badges?
Because I was never that keen on "Bridget", even before the Bridget Jones phenomenon? (Years at school of Bridget the Midget and Bridget the Fidget jokes will do that for you)
Because I was young, and foolish, and it seemed like a good idea at the time?

If you would like some questions, ask me one below.

Ask away!

1. Crosswords or Sudoku?
2. Three countries you've never visited but would like to?
3. Tell me an anecdote from your schooldays.
4. Where did you find fandom?
5. Assume the Daleks have been purged from this space-time continuum. Who would you like to be your new overlord(s)?

If you were a machine for making pies, what would you look like and what would be inside the pies?

And go on, ask me some :)

[identity profile] bugshaw.livejournal.com 2006-11-16 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose when it comes to it, I am a machine for making pies. Just not a terribly well-specialised one. Sweet pies, apple pies, cherry pies. I thought of the Tweedy's chicken pie maker at first, but wouldn't want to be so cruel :-( Not even to apples. If you're going to skin, dismember and mutilate something (even an apple!) you should have the grace to do it by hand. No, you can't come to my house and steal my Moulinex. :-)

1. Who got you onto LJ?
2. Is it better to travel hopefully, or to arrive?
3. What was your favourite book when you were 10?
4. Do you wear much that you have knitted yourself?
5. Have you put any pictures up on your walls yet, and if not, which will be the first?

Which fandom gets the TM? Zines has the historical claim, but fanfic has the numbers.

The more I think about the question, the more I identify aspects to make up a 3000 word essay...

I am delighted to reveal that I heard the (surviving members of the) Bonzos perform that very number, amid numerous others, only last week as ever was. With Ade Edmondson and Phill Jupitus assisting. Huzzah!

Are you now, or have you ever been, a Diet Pepsi drinker?

[identity profile] bugshaw.livejournal.com 2006-11-17 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but I didn't swallow.

;-)

Questions to follow.

[identity profile] bugshaw.livejournal.com 2006-11-19 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Questions.
Sorry they're late, I keep thinking what to ask you and being distracted by memories of waffles and ice cream :-)

1. Do you ever have waffles and ice cream for breakfast?
2. Name a country you'd like to visit.
3. I veered off the true path of sf into pny books when I was younger. What was your favoured genre as a child?
4. If you were a successful artist, what would be your medium?
5. Which are cuter Who would win in a fight, robots or kittens?
