If you want to try the quiz before you see the answers, it's here: http://bugshaw.livejournal.com/172621.html

My, that was trickier than I expected! 8/9/10 were more often guessed correctly.
[livejournal.com profile] swisstone scores high with 8!
6 points go to [livejournal.com profile] bibliogirl, [livejournal.com profile] brixtonbrood and [livejournal.com profile] robthefish.
4 each to [livejournal.com profile] bohemiancoast and [livejournal.com profile] zotz (who lost a point for being too clever, and got another one for being even cleverer);
And an honest zero to [livejournal.com profile] holyoutlaw. Are you kicking yourself now?

Answers behind the cuts:

1. Every pupil in the classroom will answer the same if you ask them
Mastermind, The Divine Comedy

2. I want to shake up this world and not to feel so useless
You Know It's You, Kirsty MacColl

3. Put your head on my shoulder baby, things can't get any worse
Swim, Madonna

4. We arrived at the gig looking rough; not happy, we'd all had enough
The Bride Stripped Bare By 'Bachelors', Bonzo Dog Dooh-Dah Band
(first line of the song, I ignored the spoken introduction)

5. In the entrancing dell we laughed and sometimes fell
and you won a gymkhana
Yipps (My Baby Got The), Half Man Half Biscuit

6. Seems like it was only yesterday when momma told me don't fall in love with the first girl that comes your way
You Need Love Like I Do, Tom Jones with Heather Small

7. The trouble with your brother, he's always sleeping with your mother
Razzmatazz, Pulp

8. I never thought I'd miss you half as much as I do
It Must Be Love, Madness

9. You've done it all; you've broken every code
Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me), Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel
Full Monty soundtrack for extra credit

10. Let me put my arms around your head, gee it's hot, let's go to bed
Drive In Saturday, David Bowie
I hadn't realised it was so science-fictional until I looked up the lyrics.

I'm afraid that I haven't owned a single one of these recordings, although I recognise a few of the artists.

Ah. When Simon and I married and merged our book collection, there was a lot of overlap of the sf classics and the very popular stuff, and the rest filled complementary holes. I'd always wanted to read Bujold but never got round to buying any, he'd wanted to read Banks.

Then we moved to the record collection. We overlapped by one artist (Madness); my Bananarama wanted to sit as far as possible from his Meatloaf... (Since then we have discovered a lot more overlap in tastes and found some new shared favourites)
