I've been sorting through heaps of paper, and a 6" pile has gone for recycling since yesterday, including a book on FORTRAN which was older than me!

I was surprised to come across a box of assorted beads, I'd been acquiring them when I was going to spangle some bobbins. Nothing much special, mostly plastic with a few glass, but it was nice to rootle through and find that I liked them as much now as when I got them. I'll put them away for now, but look forward to using them when I get back from Edinburgh.

We need boxes - lots of boxes. The sorting (into Edinburgh-now (S is making a trip on Aug 2-3)/Ed-Sep/CambTillSep2008) is in many unwieldy heaps, scattered about the house. The Shelf of Free has overflowed, and is surrounded by Little Heaps of Free. Small box of gouache paints anyone? Or poster paints? The tenants are coming to make final arrangements in a week - maybe they will want to take some stuff away and bring it back shortly thereafter :-)

Hark! the sound of silence. This means the laundry is finished washing. Once I've dried a few things, I'll go off to the Folk Festival.

Shall I stuff my panniers and come round one afternoon next week for you to pounce on like a horde of ravening gannets? :-)

This is all stuff I got thinking "I could do something with these one day" but the days got filled with other things.

Horde of ravening gannet. ;)

I promised you lunch, didn't I? Shall we say Tuesday, so I can get the shopping done and actually have something to feed you?

Kailash or Focus for cheapish plastic ones.

I was more after recyclable/pack-flattable cardboard, but you remind me that we were going to get some plastics for the things we're going to store in the shed.

"I was going to spangle some bobbins" - despite knowing what that means it may still be the funniest sentence ever.

If I said I was planning to spangle my bobbins with a piece of fishing line, would it sound more sinister? Spangle them, then take a long drive out to the desert in the dead of night...

See if they like that, suckers!

I agree with ceb that "spangle my bobbins" is an amusing phrase. I immediately saw a tall, gangly, cartoon Uncle Sam slapping his thigh and saying "Well spangle my bobbins!"

With my different set of cultural references, I could see it in a Carry On film. Ooh, Matron! ;-X

I have huge stack of large boxes x 20ish (professional movers kind) from when I moved here. Excellent for packing up the kitchen, puttin computers in, all the bedding etc etc. Do you want them?

Yes please! Some, at least, like a dozen or twenty. We passed ours on a couple of years ago, because "we aren't going to move house again!"

How might I get them? Cardboard boxes are a tricky load for a pedestrian/cyclist/bus-rider. Simon is off work next week, maybe he would be amenable to driving round, ideally before Thursday when he drives up to Ed...

I'm at home most days if S wanted to pop round. If S can't make it then [livejournal.com profile] sion_a could drive them round after work sometime this week. Depends how soon you want them. let me know and we'll sort someat out.
