Walky walk

2.5 hours walk. I have bought a map of the route to Ely, a pair of earphones [EDIT: which are tinny pieces of crap], The Ladies of Grace Adieu, a pair of birthday earrings, iron tablets, have spent my Debenhams gift voucher and recycled my old mobile phone.

Tomorrow I'll walk to Waterbeach and back, or all the way to Ely. But I expect I'll do less shopping.

Silly question: This is recycling, not donating, so I could keep the sim card (and use it in another phone) without upsetting anyone/thing?

It's a scheme running in my local CRUK charity shop, they do not resell the phones in the shop. I'm not sure exactly what they do with the phones, whether they get refurbished, or recycled with precious metal extraction. I did not include my sim, and they did not ask for it.

In Jersey the hospitals and the likes collect them then sell them on to enterprising individuals. A friend of Tobes' was buying them up and refurbishing them, then selling them on for a tidy profit via Ebay. He even had the cheek to get rid of the useless ones by offering Ebay "lucky dips".

Even still donating, they can be refurbished and sold second hand in developing countries to people who actually start up small businesses. So a uk sim would be useless anyway.
