I can recommend an excellent Independent Financial Advisor, if you would like. He charges a fee, but if the best choice for you results in some commission for him, he reduces his fee accordingly.

We are going back to him in the summer so we can shift mortgages the day we come out of the penalty-ridden period. He saved us 5k during the buy-out this year and was instrumental in beating up the bank at regular intervals so it did actually happen in less than geological time.

I've had a couple of dodgy IFAs, so I'd be pleased to have a recommendation. I don't need an IFA right now, though.
