Shopping

Brr, that was cold. I fair got a headache from the cold air. That'll teach me to go out on a bright, sunny December afternoon without a scarf and gloves.

Success in present shopping; have to do some more as my Mum is visiting on Thursday but have to ascertain what might be a good present. The queue in Borders when I went past stretched from the tills on one side of the shop nearly to the tills on the other side, which put me off going for a browse.

My headphones finally fell apart today. They've been falling apart for years, I've tried to replace them twice but the replacements have been tinny pieces of carp so I've hung on to the most decrepit headphones in the world. Then one of the hair-thin wires they were hanging by broke, and I lost my music. I spent all of £14.99 on a replacement this time, and I'm pleased with the sound quality, but the phone fell out of my ear approximately three times per song plus every time I turned my head. I hope I get used to them.

If you're sticking pieces of carp in your ears, I suspect that might be your problem. That trick only works with babelfish.

I gave up on expensive headphones a long time ago. For a good while I was using pound shop ones, actual headphones, not earphones. The sound quality wasn't brilliant but was good enough for me, and although I had to replace them every few months at a quid a shot it wasn't a big deal.

Then, about six months ago, I found some headphones for 97p in Asda. The sound is better and they've not given up yet. They look a bit crap - like the things that came with the first ever Sony Walkman - and I'm sure most would laugh at the sound quality, but it works for me.

I find the current little nobbly earpieces du jour won't stay in my ears either. But I for one am tired of looking like something from the 70s with full size headphones (cue audience laughter) so for this trip I too bought 14-99 ones which promised "liquid gel". And at the end of 3 hours left ear throbbing from forcible re-thrusting. Do I have deformed ears or what???
