Do cats fart? I'm sure I heard something just now, and the cat is looking suspiciously innocent.

EDIT: Apparently, yes. Thank you, LJ!

In my experience they are more likely to have vomited swiftly and discreetly. But yes, they do fart.

I was watching, and nothing came out of the mouth end. Just as well, as it would have vomited on my foot.

I'm getting quite soppy about cats, aren't I, for all the itchiness. I'll be putting these clothes into the laundry tomorrow, though.

They do indeed, though they are usually SBDs.

A friend's Great Dane was known for his fartiness: its farts rescented the entire floor (five rooms, one large) every time. Shortly after the dog died, we were in the TV room watching a DVD when we detected a familiar smell. It turned out not to be the dog's ghost but one of the cats, whose dubious emissions had been completely camouflaged by the dog's.

Rarely, but it always comes as a surprise to them and you.

They do. They also snore... very loudly. I'm having to TYPE THIS VERY LOUDLY OVER BIG'S SNORTS.

Cats do indeed fart. Usually in the silent-but-deadly category. (They also sneeze and snore and have hiccups.)

hiccups?

ROFLMA!

As yet, none of my cats have done this, but I will be watching very closely in future.

The cat I had as a kid was prone to hiccups. These are (cruelly) funny when some one else has them but it is absolutely hilarious to watch the surprised look on a cat's face.

Oh indeed they do. Usually when their butt is near you, in my experience..

Yes. And far too often.

Spooks was prone to hiccups, allergy type sneezes (particularly when you were all packed to go on hols) and snoring like a drain.
Also sitting in the middle of the floor, with his back too you and sighing dramatically.
But then he did turn into the cat equivalent of Victor Meldrew in his latter years.

Maybe the cat was... drilling?
