Home again, home again, clippetty clop

Have just been visiting with [livejournal.com profile] hawkida and [livejournal.com profile] tobesv - ate food, played Scrabble (at which [livejournal.com profile] hawkida is a complete fiend) and started to learn Magic - the Gathering. Got given spare cross-stitch stuff, a biiig castle/dragon picture (half completed - I'll try to rescue it) and a keyring with stitched cottage design. While on train platform it occurred to me that I could create my own design out of my imagination and stitch that instead for the keyring, and it could be a potato and I could send it to Ang and get never spoken to again...

I spent a long time on that train platform. The train was due at 22:17, but was delayed. Until 23:14. Then 23:23, then 23:50. At midnight they got a cab for the four waiting passengers (3 for Whittlesea and me for Cambridge - it was a tight squeeze in the back seat), and I got home at 01:20. Gah. If it weren't for the fact that I have a house-mending chap coming 8-9am Tuesday morning, I'd've gone back to the office Chez Tobes-Hawkes.

Yawn.

Oy you!

Bug is no good as a secret potato sender. She cracks too easily under pressure.

... like a Desiree in a microwave...

Potato???

Is one permitted to inquire into the mystic significance?

The joys of Peterborough station... was the buffet still open to sit in and get a cuppa at that hour?

[identity profile] bugshaw.livejournal.com 2004-07-20 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Closes at 8pm, as I discovered when working late one night and assuming I could still pick up a sandwich at that hour. I'm just glad the toilets were still open.

But it was a pleasant night to be sitting outside in the peace and quiet (what with there being no trains).

Buffet Alternative

The hotel opposite the station has a nice bar that I've frequented occasionally, it's a bit of a shame that to actually get into Peterborough from the station is a pretty nasty trek.

Gah from here too! Add another factor to the List Of Bad Things About Me Working Away During The Week: not being around to rescue you when WAGN goes up the spout...

Lots of love,

MC

Ni! Nice rescue-y Clanger. XXX (And it was Central Trains BTW) Nice.

Bloody trains... As I said when it was only 57 minutes late. Damn, could have taught you *much* more MTG if you hadn't had to rush off.

Dragon is a long way off "half completed", I think. If you rescue it I will be very impressed. Using the thread elsewhere is probably a better bet.

"visiting with" Is that an Americanism? We didn't do any visiting, we got visited.

And then hustled like mad with your "special" deck. Oh yes, I've heard about you. [is suspicious]

If you rescue it [dragon embroidery] I will be very impressed.

Bridget the Dragon Slayer Rescuer! But you still won't want it in your house, will you? Oh well, I can always add some potatoes and send it to Ang anonymously, she'll like that...

"visiting with" Is that an Americanism? We didn't do any visiting, we got visited.

Well, I was visiting, and I was with you, so... -darn these culturally-distinct colloquialisms! B-

God, I'm tired.
