What am I doing today? Instead of looking at what my plans were, it will be easier to look back at what I actually did. Pancake lunch with John was cancelled because he's ill and replaced with gym trip with Naomi which was cancelled because I'd gone to Tesco at 10am but it didn't open till 11am so I walked round Stourbridge Common and the river for an hour (ducks! gulls! frozen puddles! rowers!) and when I got back I'd walked for 2 hours already and had started unblocking the sink which took longer than expected because it was more blocked than expected. Then I phoned the police to report the incident (not much hassle; they may want to send someone round to talk about it, but maybe not).

Now I expect to walk with Naomi into the market, then I'm off to the exhibition at Kettle's Yard, and back via a buy-myself-a-couple-of-CDs-treat stop.

EDIT: Walked with Naomi to the market, via a clothes shop and another coffee shop, and a bookshop and another bookshop, and round the market, and finished off the retail therapy with a coffee/fruit juice. Apple and rhubarb juice is really Quite Odd. By then Kettle's Yard was closed, but [livejournal.com profile] pseudomonas had asked me round for a cup of tea so I went round there instead. Came out to walk home at 8pm instead of the 4pm I had anticipated when I left the house, so insufficiently coated :-( Brrr! I've walked for 4 hours today.

Ooh! I looked at the rowers in case any of them were you, but you must have passed by a bit earlier or later. Well done on the race!!

I walked up a hill and thought of the lyrics to Bjork's "Hyperballad".

I also found a reference to the French Situationalists in a comic book:
"Debord and the original situationalists used to practice what they called the 'derive,' which basically consisted of meeting up at the Parc des Buttes Chaumont in the north of Paris, buying a few cheap bottles of red wine, getting drunk, and drifting down to the Ile de la Cite in the Seine where they'd sleep it off."

by then it was getting dark, so I came down the hill again.
