OK Bridget: you're just back from a short holiday to Carcassonne, it's gone midnight and you've only just finished reading your e-mails.

Go to bed now. On no account start reading your Friends page.
Mood:: Gritted teeth (ouch! crunchy.)

Did I mention that a few days ago I finally opened an envelope of photocopied stuff from you?

Thanks

Yes, but we've never played it. We have a variant, Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers, which is based in prehistoric times. The players place tiles to gradually build up a map of a territory, which they can use to fish, hunt, and claim woods and mountains. I presume the original is based on similar gameplay, but with the players building up a mediaeval walled city. Carcassonne is a prime example of this, we walked round it several times to explore the many levels of fortification and defensive structures.

This is a very good game. My East of London fan friends Mary and Melica have a set. You may recognise them from my parties or Eastercon.

It's more a series of walled cities.....

Cities for forests.
Road for streams
Farmers for hunters.

Hunters and gathers is a much better game to my mind..... smoothed out the wrinkles....
