Iron Man - add a bit of Red

Loved parts of this, laughed with and at parts, really not keen on the shooting/killing bits. Some great lines had us laughing our heads off, I only wanted to shout at the screen once in feminist ire, but RDJr cannot solder - he wields the iron as if it were a paintbrush. Dab dab dab! Um, no. Nice cameo from Stan Lee, and worth staying to the end of the (rather long) credits. Now I want to go watch The Rocketeer and Sky Captain again. Not that I'm becoming my own cliché, oh no...

Got home to find the cats still ignoring me, and having hardly touched their wet food (but eating plenty of dry kibble). This is unusual behaviour, and I can but trust they know what they're doing.

EDIT: Next night, two cats on the bed. This seems happier.

This is fairly normal cat behaviour. My Neri stops eating almost completely when I go away, even though the little boy from up-stairs comes down to feed and play with her every day. She drinks water and eats enough to keep herself going, but she doesn't clean herself very thoroughly either. I think its so that when I return I'll see this poor sad waif and feel so sorry that I never go away again.....

[livejournal.com profile] beamjockey posted a link to the original animated Iron Man TV theme a few days back, so I had the fun of recognising Tony Stark's ringtone!

Bits I laughed at: well, quite a lot, but especially the line where Stark threatens his fire-extinguishing robot with being sent to the local community college. In a bizarre cross-over continuity theory, do you think it's a Mark 1 version of the scutters from Red Dwarf?

The bit I didn't laugh at: the opening ambush. Memories of doing just that in training (but with a smaller FX budget) combined with some slightly hairy moments during The Real Thing :-(

So far, not heard a single negative review of Iron Man. Cool.

Strangely I just watched SKY CAPTAIN earlier in the week but my plans to see IRON MAN when it opened yesterday stalled. Forgot I was on night shift on Thursday night! Doh!

Saw it this afternoon at The Odeon Leicester Square with [livejournal.com profile] cobrabay. Had a great time in a film that has just the right amount of everything entertaining in a genre movie. I agree, Stan Lee's cameo is fab!
