We're here! Flight went well (but more intellectually stagnant than, say, a National Express coach journey). We arrived in Auckland around 24 hours ago. The weather is less sunny than I had been led to expect for an Antipodean summer, with clouds and scattered showers, but it is a good 10dC warmer than Cambridge so I can't complain. Look! Look at me not complaining!

Have been out for a couple of walks already, round Auckland harbour and Auckland museum (fascinating exhibition of quilts by Nancy Crow, which [livejournal.com profile] brisingamen might like).

Have free internet access at hotel, however "We would be grateful if you would be aware of other guests also wishing to use this Computer" (i.e. all of them), so, later dudes.

Mwah!

Glad you had a good trip!

I guess your safe arrival means that you did not spot any New South Pacific Islands inhabited by my less purple and more squamous relations...

I hope you enjoy yourself there in New Zealand. Please try not to fall off though. And beware the flesh eating parrots.

heh, it's a conspiracy we use to suck in Northern Hemisphere visitors so they'll come and spend money.

What, you thought the lack of rain on Neighbours was real?!?

Those quilts must have been wonderful if the pictures on her site are anything to go by. Could do with one right now. Shivers.

They were amazing. The colours come across pretty well on the web site, but the fascinating textures don't. I'm irked now - because apparently visitors are allowed to take photographs in the museum and I'd assumed they weren't!

Second the museum and are you hitting the Bay of Islands?

We went to Devonport yesterday (which was lovely) but are off today so no BoI. Also, not going to Wellington, so no museum. But we'll be sure to read about it in the guide book :-(
