I put a bra in the washing machine. I now have a lopsided bra, a liberated underwire, and no sign of any tear or tiny hole in the bra fabric or seams by which the wire might have escaped...
I never put bras in the wash without putting them in a pillowcase first. I am not anal about many things, but that is one of them! (Due to fears of the underwire monster)
Eeep - it's in the washing machine. Always use a pillow case.
Mind you at Bravisimo they always hand over your sweet little bag with your tissue-wrapped new bras with a very fierce look as they tell you to NEVER wash them in the machine and ALWAYS hand wash them. And you say YES of course! And they KNOW you are lying.
This last year I've tried hand washing (in the shower seems easiest) and only machine wash (in pillow-case) as an emergency. And I would say they have lasted longer and I've not lost a single wire. I think having big knockers always means that one is 'hard on one's bra's' so anything you can do to save them (and the washing manchine) is a Good Thing TM.
Check it's not poking out through one of the holes in the drum. If you can't rescue the wire it should have fallen all the way through. However if the next wash sets up a nasty rattling noise you will know why and it will be time for washing machine repair man.
If you have an old bra of similar dimensions you could always take one of those wires out to repair this one. If not, you can cut the other wire out and consign the bra to a 'feeling poorly/sleep' bra.
I'm usually careful about washing bras in a mesh bag, and handwashing for the first couple of months. This one was a hand-me-down, and had been subjected to Baptism By Cataclysm (i.e. free-range machine wash and tumble dry) many times before. I thought it might survive again... I retrieved the wire, but I just can't see where one could reinsert it in the fabric.
It's bra magic. You can never figure out where it came out from. Like everyone else said, always wash bras inside something like a pillowcase. I have some neat little mesh bags that I use which are very handy.
