I have broadband! I don't know where I'm getting it from, but it definitely appears to be real. Maybe the line reset didn't knock over the Eclipse connection after all. My clue was when I was doing some word processing and a little box popped up to say the components of my security software had been successfully updated. "You bastard!" I thought - "All these years you've not been updating anything, you've just said that to make me feel secure! Because how can you be updating anything if I don't have broadband? Unless..." Doh :-)

So now I'm back. If only I had something to say.

Yay!
We had the same thing in the house we rented before moving here - about 6 months of ntl materialised out of nowhere. I think it's too much fuss for them to bother switching it off when people end a contract early. Or something.

Eclipse implied that the falling-over of service would be automatic, triggered by BT's line reset. Maybe they were wrong. Maybe BT didn't do a PSTN cease. Be* have just phoned to say they've noticed my line is now active, and that if I want to switch to them I need to get my MAC from Eclipse. So I will!

It's possible that like us you'll get a couple of mysterious hours and then it'll go away again for a bit. Hopefully not though.

Ours is supposed to be back properly today. I'm not holding my breath, but it'll be nice if it's true. Even if the line will only do 1MB instead of 2.

I'd prefer it if you posted stuff, so I could procrastinate my own workload... :)

ADSL is actually jumpered onto the line seperately from PSTN in the exchange. Usually you won't lose ADSL service unless they specifically cease it with the PSTN cease (they might have made it more automatic these days, but it'll still need physical unjumpering if it's LLU)..
