My more attentive readers may recall the joys of previous posts such as "I connected the printer via the parallel port but it seems to read at the wrong speed and print HHelllloo wworrlld!!" and "Why can I not get the network to recognise it via the Ethernet port, when I am sure I have its IP address correct?"

I always had the backup plan of using the printer's USB port, and today I went to try this. And found it is a Standard-B receptacle, the connector for which the like thereof I have not got. Oh yes thank you universe. Thank you very much.

That's pretty standard - most USB printers and scanners have that socket for a Type A-B lead. If you can wait until Friday I'll bring a cable along to Novacon.

That's very kind, thank you! Meanwhile I'll go with Plan D to get the TAFF ballots printed :-)
