The latest odd thing I have found that people put Wii controllers into is maracas! At [livejournal.com profile] angua's there was a samba dance game where one had to shake maracas in various directions while a backdrop of crazed animals cavorted. It was much more fun as a spectator sport than Guitar Hero - but you have seen this, where someone does Guitar Hero on a bicycle? Also, much mulled wine and nice people and tree(s) decorating. I would have come away with [livejournal.com profile] saraphale's old tv (mine having died) but there are more sensible things to do than get 25kg of television onto a bus at midnight in December.

Today, I didn't realise the hot water hadn't come on until a) I had got my hair wet in the shower already and b) it was too late to heat water as I was off out to lunch. With the unusual amounts of mousse and wax in it from the hairdresser, and sleeping on it quite thoroughly, I ended up with Anime Hair. It's very odd, it stays exactly where it's put but only in big slabs.

Next week looks quite quiet outside of work, there's just the Cambridge Blue sf pub meeting on Monday (which will be empty with no [livejournal.com profile] timill or [livejournal.com profile] mkillingworth!). But now for an evening of admin; I've just dug far enough into my desk to find my 43 Folders, which I've not looked at in 3 weeks. It's not supposed to work that way!

I am planning on going to the SF meeting on Monday night. So I guess they'll be at least one person there I know :-)

We sat at a table with him on Thursday, and he is not [livejournal.com profile] damerell.
Hmm, could perhaps make a Carlton Arms logic puzzle for Christmas :-) If Richard is sitting with Becky, Bridget is at the bar, and Ian is eating peas, what is Duncan drinking?

The same thing as I am IIRC. Good. Another one to add to the list of people I might vaguely know :-)

Umm, I suppose we'd better make it too, then.

Don't feel obliged if you had other plans.

How are 43 folders supposed to work?

31 folders (or index card dividers in my case) for days of the month, plus 12 for months of the year. At any time the front folder has today's date on, and holds things I need for that day (doctor appointment cards, theatre tickets, etc) or that I should pay attention to around that day (repeat prescriptions coming close to due etc). After '31' comes 'JAN' and I have things there I need to do something about in January but either don't have a date for yet or the 1-31 day dividers haven't circulated that far yet. Things like a list of people with birthdays in Januarys, a reminder to myself that I need to book my 5-weekly haircut, that sort of thing. I find it a good way to hold bits of information that I don't need till (at least) a particular day but don't want to lose.
