Gas and electric - the mystery shallowens

The old electric place were helpful and explained about 'erroneous transfers', told me it was Southern Electric, and put me through to the correct department there.

Southern Electric were also quite helpful, and not the evil doorsteppers. They have an account in the name of tamaranth, who apparently called them in November (this is plausible) to say she was moving house (this is true) and expressly stipulated that she would like SE to provide her with both gas and electricity at the new house (she is likely to deny this). SE can't stop the account on my say-so as it's in her name; they say as it was expressly requested it's not an erroneous transfer thus we have to stay with them for 28 days. When I asked what happens if someone requests a transfer according to their process but does not have the authority to do so (she says, pulling landlady rank), they said all three of us would have to be on the phone at the same time. We might manage this.

25 minutes on the phone. Grrrr.

Would just like to point out that I am 'likely to deny this' because it is expressly not what I told them. As in, when they asked would I like to switch, I said no thanks, My Landlady already have gas and electricity.

Just when I thought all the post-move utilities hassle (apart from BT who still owe me money) was over ...
