I'm not usually so keen on people running for charity, being of the pragmatic mind which says digging a well or planting food would be a better use of the people-power; although it's still preferable to skydiving or some equally tasty activity (and please note these opinions don't stop me donating). However, in Eddie's case he's also doing a remarkable bit of general spreading of light and joy while he runs round the island, and this I like very much.
Wow. This comment just boggles me. While I see your point about things like skydiving for charity, I'll be first in line to sponsor you if you get all the likeminded people to fly all the way to Africa to dig wells/milk goats/heal the children; but in the meantime I think I'll keep running, regardless of the light and joy quota that brings to the world.
