Think of something weird but memorable

The act of thinking up and committing to memory of such a thing, in circumstances such as the periodic change requirement of my first-tier login password, appear to wipe the part of the brain where I keep the second-tier password. When I dredge my recall I only find the password-before-last...

I know just what you mean. I really need to come up with a decent algorithm for generating passwords that I'll actually be able to remember that aren't blindingly obvious.

When I first had to change passwords regularly (OMG 1987!) I think I went for passwords based on month names. Then zodiac signs. Then Tarot cards ...

I use the same random string of letters and numbers and vary the shift key:
ajs5B185
AJS%b185
ajs5B!*%
etc.
