Meet Um, and Er... I haven't given them names yet. They're Roborovski dwarf hamsters, both female (the vet assistant has been Watching Them Closely for signs of Behaviour). Each one would fit comfortably in a tablespoon :-)

Aw, how cute!

Would you like the Dwarf Hamster Handling Gauntlets (+6 vs tiny rodents) back?

Hee! No, apparently they're not very bitey...

They can try, but the only place they can really bite is the skin between your thumb and index finger.

And even then they can't bite hard & it's still funny.

(I got my first set of Robbo's when I was depressed because Everything They Do Is Funny).

What an excellent name for a hamster! Oh, and a person too of course! Flash would go well with the gerbils Nash and Gnasher...

Nash and Nasher were names I was called along with Flash, before it stuck!

May I suggest Tash or Tasha for the second one, since you are into rhyming names to some extent (or seem to be stuck with them)?

Or Tache, if I can train her to perch on my upper lip.

Tasha Yar, HamStar!

They are sleeping side by side in a toilet roll because they are so small :-)

Are they actually only one push-me-pull-you hamster? They seem pretty much joined together.

But very cute.

Can you now understand how restrained I was, that Sunday that [livejournal.com profile] sonicdrift took me out for a bibulous lunch and then to the hamster shop. They had a whole box of Roborovskis and I didn't buy any of them.

I can resist buying, but rescuing is a different matter. They have just discovered the wheel, and are finding they can run in parallel in it :-) Oh, and in series! And overtake each other! I worry a bit about their loop-the-loop exits...

Oh, I am going to be woken all night by the sound of hamsters landing on their heads and noses :-/

It takes a while to get used to, but they're absolutely not hurt by it! (and it's funny).

Better than that - it only took them half an hour to learn how to slow the wheel a bit before the dismount. The funny thing now is watching one hamster try to join one that's already spinning at high velocity.

That makes them smarter than mine - I don't think any of them ever worked out decelerating - dead stop and getting flung across the tank seemed to do it for them.

Holly has padded off to the bathroom to see if there are any hamsters in our toilet rolls, Trudy is on my lap trying to cuddle her way into the laptop and Panda wants to know how many calories there are per tablespoon of hamster...

oh dear , am I oversharing ?

V. sweet. My sister used to keep Campbell's - trying hard to persuade myself that Alex is too young for them.

Cats want to visit too, but are not allowed.

Happy to have visiting monkeys (they do know that the hamsters are not stuffed with chocolate?)

They are adorable! I want to visit now too. Unfortunately I think it might have to wait until NYE, because Mum goes into hospital on Thursday. Please keep posting photos :)
