Holiday

I'm entering the study. I may be some time.

Before:

I think, after some discussion with my mother, that I may have got the hang of thinking of filing cabinets as repositories of things yet to be done, not just a storage space for old paperwork which has gone to expire. So far, I do like to see everything out in front of me...

EDIT 19:49 The desk is clear, the bank statements are all found, checked and archived (and now I need to check Council Tax over/underpayment weirdness), and the small monitor has been replaced with the large monitor. There is a 4cm stack of recycling, but much of the piles from the desk is now piled on the piles behind the desk. Tea and Doctor Who now.

Like many Old Adages, "Out of sight, out of mind" has a lot of truth in it. Witness: the folders on my computer desktop labelled "Do", "Working", "Now", "Soon" and "Ongoing" -- into which files are put (randomly), and which often remain unopened for months. On the other hand... having too many things in plain sight seems to render them invisible. Or maybe it's just that I'm an incurably lazy procrastinator.

am worried - mine looks just as bad, and it's smaller. Problem is that i've already filled up 3 filing cabinets, and there's no ROOM to put another one... good luck!
