I boxed up the comics I don't want any more, and the stack was about 5' long. "Ooh," I thought, "I can put them in one big pile and see if I'm taller than them or vice versa!" But when stacked in a pile it's not even barely 3' high.

Hmm, I wonder if this space-saving method works for storing other types of object? Hey, gerbils, your tank now has 1' square floor space, but it's 3' high! That's just as good, yes?

As for the unwanted comics, locals are welcome to come round and paw through them like demented gannets in search of gems if you do so before I work out how one gets rid of comics these days.

I wish I had enough money to put fuel in the car to get to Cambridge. But I don't :-(

And I don't have enough enthusiasm to type up a list of what I have. Is there anything in particular you'd hope to find? I have Batman, Groo, XMen, a load of crumbly old Marvel superheroes, and a load of Vertigo shortish series from the early 90s. Plus more.

I have partial runs for a lot of early 90s Vertigo short series, so some of those might come in handy.

As a reward for this fantastic achievement, why not come round to the Gallery this afternoon and eat Cake!

Wonders if the cat would mind being fed at 3pm rather than 6pm - it'll make him want breakfast at 3am :-( I'll see you later in the evening at any rate, and many happy returns!

This is where robot hamsters WIN over fur hamsters.

I still read some comics and/or graphic novels, but I found most of the superhero titles no longer hold much interest. There are exceptions -- Astro City, the late 1990s run of Star*Man, recent issues of the rebooted Iron Man and Captain America -- but they're few and far between.

Would love to come and look at your comics if that could be arranged at a mutually suitable time.

I've limited my comics now to one shelf's worth. T'was a bit painful, but there was the fundamental rule of "are you ever going to read this stuff again?" I don't suppose you've got a copy of Transmetropolitan #2 in your "to get rid of pile" though?

I only started buying Transmet from #35, so no :-( My run is very gappy, I really should find someone else's to borrow just so I can read the whole series through for once.
I'm down to four 5-ream boxes now, one of those is comics I could get rid of after one more read.

I wouldn't mind a look through if they'll still be there by film club.
