I didn't have much luck with food yesterday. I wondered about the fish, but wasn't convinced it was off till I cooked it in a risotto. I've been sprouting alfalfa seeds too, and they were just coming ready, but must have got too warm in the sprouter as they started to turn to brown sludge.

While cooking ill-fated dinner, I sat out in the garden and started to pull weeds - there's a purple-flowered thing which, while pretty, is crowding out the grass. It is quite satisfying to pull it - the leaves and flowers are low to the ground, but a gentle tug often revels a root/stem up to 6" long which has crept along the ground. I marvel at the interconnectedness of things as I discover just how it's spread across the lawn with tough, white underground roots. It was only after I'd pulled a lot that I found it was edible and medicinal :-)

I scoffed a load of mini toblerones at work, and if my joints ache it will only be my own fault. But mmm, melting milk chocolate... It's warm in the office.

But mmm, melting milk chocolate...

You were obviously saving it from a melty death.

The mini white toblerones looked like melting glaciers!

I too understand your risotto disaster ...

... I did something similar when making my BIG pot of bolognese of doom ... lots of peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes etc. etc. and then the minced beef I used turned out to be decidedly dodgy, and I had to throw the lot away (probably at least five meals worth, as I make up a big pot and then freeze half and eat half over the next few days)

Good luck with the weekend (my weekend eating is either better than work days, or much worse ... and I'm never sure which way it is going to go until it is too late ...)
