Books read (40-47)

Nights at the Circus, Angela Carter (1984) (reread)
Half A Crown, Jo Walton (2008)
The Year of Our War, Steph Swainston (2004)
City of Illusions, Ursula K. Le Guin (1967)
Alice in Sunderland, Bryan Talbot (2007) (graphic novel)
The Midwich Cuckoos, John Wyndham (1957)
Ripley Under Ground, Patricia Highsmith (1970)
Phoenix Café, Gwyneth Jones (1997)

Films watched (29-38)

Moulin Rouge (rewatch)
Kill Bill Vol. 1
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Milou en Mai
Cruise of the Gods
Inception
Bulletproof Monk
Jumper
Inception
(again)
The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb

More than usual, the dodgy back at the beginning of the month allowed for plenty of reading and DVD watching. Half a Crown and Year of Our War were both very good - Alice in Sunderland is really something else, and very impressive. It made such an impression I dreamt of Bryan that night. I picked up Bulletproof Monk from the RSPCA bookshop. I knew I'd heard good reviews or bad of it, but couldn't remember which, and have now formed my own.

Watched Inception twice, the second still left me with questions about it...

I don't think I want to read it if I have to dream about it afterwards.

I'd like to read Alice in Sunderland and rewatch Inception. IMO Bulletproof Monkis entertainingly bad, though I *heart* Cho Yun Fat. The central library has Swainston's Above The Snowline, but I decided I had too many books out already.

When I read The Year of Our War (borrowed from Owen), nobody bothered to tell me it had sequels.

It has sequels :-)

The first thing I did upon finishing it was to Google to see if has sequels. The only thing stopping me from buying them all immediately was waiting to see if the friend I borrowed The Year of Our War from has them (and yes, she does).
