When my Mum visited on Monday and brought compost, we spent an afternoon drilling and screwing together raised beds, digging holes, going for a late lunch at Al Casbah, planting plants, and ended up with - Garden v1.2. It's not much, but it is a start!

That looks too modern for my taste, but I love fuchsias!

I haven't taken cuttings this year but I have a few mature plants if you want some more?

That was a stupid comment. I don't know why I thought a load of tubs was modern. I have tubs too. Doh.

Ah, but mine are currently clean, low and rectangular, with nice spiky Kniphofia, and haven't got trailing plants in the traditional manner. And I like modern, so am pleased you think that's what they look like!

Oh, it feels strange idly commenting about gardening to someone in a Death Row cell... Do they let you bring a spider plant or something?

They let me out for good behaviour ;-)

They wouldn't have let me bring a plant - the cell has to match Linda's - but even on the real Row I doubt you can grow things. And with 24/7 light, but none of it natural, who knows how they would develop?

My friend in Alabama did once catch a mouse. He tied string around its neck so he could keep it in his cell as a pet. Lasted for a few days before it escaped. Poor thing - but he really liked having a pet.

I only went to Al Casbah once, but I really really liked it ... sigh, I miss Cambridge.

Good work with the garden!

Wow! Flatpack garden :-)

I probably have some self-sown lavender, aquilegia and mint I could donate if you're looking for more plants, either now or in the autumn/winter.

Ooh, some mint would be nice! Thanks :-)

Mint is yours. Remind me in October. If I haven't brought you any by then, thet would probably be the best time for it.
