Yup, though "...might or might not fully appreciate" could also be a good header. To non-ST people, I might use the analogy of the body going into shock -- basically, concentrating on conserving the oxygen suppy to the brain -- but that has some seriously negative aspects. Here in the U.S., "shutting off the air-conditioning when your automobile is struggling to cope with a long up-hill grade" might work better.
