I would dearly like to shift the balance of out-of-office time closer to pleasant activities than merely recovering.

I hear you. I'm getting better at it. I have a member of staff off long term sick with no cover (again) and this time I'm refusing to do any overtime. It helps that this time I have a new line manager who backs me up on this 100%.

I think the team have a pool on at what stage I crack and start coming in at 7.
