Slight change of plans for the weekend. Simon's brother took ill on Friday night and went to hospital; he'd been staying with their mother in Woking, which was lucky in that respect. Brother is improving now, I took the train down to Woking on Saturday morning to be with their mother but returned last night, Simon drove down on Saturday afternoon and will take his brother home to Kent today before coming back later this evening.

Is raining. Slept badly. Am distracted :-(

I did catch up on some reading on the train - Johanna Sinisalo's Not Before Sundown because she'll be a guest at Concussion and half of Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go which is on the Clarke Award shortlist. Both bloody good books, though one contains scenes of a disturbing nature to rodent fanciers. To avoid spoilering you, I won't say which book it is ;-)

EDIT: Also, I am glad I spent so much of Friday catching up with my overgrown inbox, replying and filing e-mails, as I received a piece of spam on Saturday evening which my e-mail reader could not handle, and it crashed and broke my inbox. I was able to save my remaining 43 e-mails, but unfortunately just as a plain text file and not in a format I can import into my reader. I have cleaned and fixed my inbox now, but some of my replies may be a bit garbled!

It is still a bit worrying, as he's been diabetic for 20 years and this doesn't tend to be good for you. I expect Si will post when he gets home.

It's hard work, living with and managing diabetes :-(

Especially when you can't hold food down for a day!
