I'm thinking of going to the long weekend (Nov 9-12) this year, but haven't been before. Has anyone here gone, and knows enough what it is like so I can tell if it fits with my physical oddnesses? Is it like going to the cinema with an advanced ticket, just walk in - or do we need to stand in queues for more than about 20 minutes? Is it crowded and hard to negotiate if you're a bit fragile and need space to move? If it's spread out between multiple venues I'm fine with that - get a bit of a walk in between films :-)

Haven't been to the film festival but they hold the Arthur C Clarke Award Ceremonies there and the facility is not bug friendly - lots of stairs and crowded, narrow, noisy spaces without much seating. Hope you find you can go, but I'm not sure you will like it.

Thank you. Maybe it would work better for me if I drop in for the odd film and don't expect to hang out and use it as social space. Hmm, I'm in London next weekend, maybe I could detour via the cinema and scope it out :-) I'm spoilt with the Cambridge Film Fest and its variety of seating. There's the odd pinch point but nothing horrendous.

I was going to say roughly the same.
There is a lift, and you may know some of the people who volunteer for it.

however I have never been to the festival due to being too busy at the same time...

I have been for the summer film festival and it's much more pleasant during the regular parts than the ACCA. There's a lift down to the cinema level from the main area, and there is a seating area which usually has seats although I wouldn't guaratntee on them always being there. There's not queueing so much as the films run to very tight timing and sometimes they are running late, so there's standing outside the theatre while waiting for the previous audience to leave. I think you'll be ok if you just go for the films, but I wouldn't use it as a social hangout. There are cafes across the roadthat might work better.
