No, I was thinking of doing exactly that - not cos I don't listen to music but I'd like to note what boks I read during the year and don't care what CDs I listened to! I wonder if you can customise those fields..

I think you can customise them on your own page - so if someone looks at http://www.livejournal.com/users/green_amber they can see "Currently reading" or whatever, but it will still say "music" on everyone's friends pages.

Gode. I think I thought *I* was [livejournal.com profile] cardboardwillow...

Only a database expert would worry about such things... :-)

The mere fact that everyone seems to be listening to music all the time makes me wonder what alternate universe I live in. It's been over a year since I purchased a CD, but I listen to classic rock in the car or the jukebox at the local bar. I don't have a constant soundtrack going in the background or even in my head. I don't download music from the net or listen to net radio... I wonder if I am alone in this, or if this impression of the constantly plugged-in listening public is one being fostered by the media in much the same way as the All-American Family of the 50's.

I don't think so. It's not harming anyone, and the field's just sitting there unused. Maybe it should be labeled "current media" or even something else to indicate the context in which you created the post.

For a second there, I thought, "Maybe C. Priest had formed a band or something -- cool!" Silly me.
