I woke late this morning, with what could be my Best Idea Ever! An inspired extrapolation of scientific theory to fannish history, I'll debut it at <plokta.con>π:The Dangercon (unless I think better of it in the meantime). If you can't wait, do guess at it in the comments. Good suggestions will be stolen.

I phoned [livejournal.com profile] major_clanger to share the idea with him; after the obligatory marital appreciative noises, he asked
"How is your day otherwise?"
"Probably downhill from here on in!" I quipped - hung up the phone, looked at the clock, and realised I should have been at the doctor 20 minutes ago for an appointment. Gah! Sometimes Fate smiles on me, and sometimes it just points and laughs.

You are doomed whatever you do. If you claim your day is just going to keep getting better then the gods will punish you for your hubris, if you take your attitude then they will endeavour to fulfil your expectations.

Stupid gods. Just to make my life even better, I suspect they've made me Marmite intolerant - I'll have to do a few more experiments to see if it's some other factor which is giving me joint problems. Bastards!

It could be Marmite, Rakusen's crackers, organic stock cubes, or the LJ-picnic.

How many Ted Whites does it take to change a light bulb?

(A. None - Ted wil be too sercon to notice the light bulb needs changed - then he'll tell a story about that for the next 30 years..)

Ah. He might not like my idea. I'll have to pitch it as a John Berry.uk piece I read in an old Walt Willis zine...
