It's being a day for losing things.

First, [livejournal.com profile] major_clanger went away for nine days' sailing.
Next, K came back from holiday to collect her gerbils.
Now (Typical! Just when MC leaves the house) my Internet connection is falling over. It manages a few minutes after I power down&up the router but then goes off again (three times now). If I disappear, that'll be why ;-)

Very Monty Python.

I hope that MC has a mobile turned on...

"Ship to shore! This is tech support calling."

I've given everything a good jiggle and it's been behaving more reliably.

Have you checked your ISP's site for problems?

Other than that, my suggestion on this would always be to check cables and swap in a replacement if you have one. And if you're using USB, think about switching to a network connection, it's MUCH more reliable.

I suspect the problem is at our end. Often when the Internet connection in IE falls over (claims to not find a connection - asks if I want to dial up instead) I can get it back by doing a blink in Ameol. IE then connects fine.

We use a 5-port hubby with Cat5 cable to connect the broadband socket to our Mac, PC and printer.
