Arses about the poisoning. People just don't realise, do they?! Gf is not just a lifestyle choice. Argh!

I know life's too short & all that, but could you do a handout to give them and ask to pass to the chef, with easy-read type pictures accompanying the text? so they realise that in your case, you're friendly but you mean it?

Complain to trading standards when they said it was gf/df and wasn't / made you ill? edit: I mean FSA.

Is there no opt-in scheme for businesses that want to demonstrate awareness of allergies (gf, df, & nut for starters) that can be checked & then display a logo & be listed on a website? If not... We could start one? I have in my head an "allergy aware" wording and a big Green tick... And a commitment to keep things separate in kitchen, keep menu clearly labelled, and so on.

I'm sure, deep down, they know about the allergies - but people seem to pay attention to the main dish and skip over thinking about the accompaniments and garnishes. I've seen this time and again with people who are often mortified that after all that effort they've glossed over the optional dip.
