My Exciting Corporate Jet-Set Lifestyle

Ug! Another 12-hour day, this time going to a meeting in Glasgow rather than wrangling multi-country address data into a surly submission in preparation for said meeting.

I am now going to go to bed, to read Kil'n People by David Brin, and nap, and read again.

It's a strange experience reading Kil'n People whilst eating Fruit Pastilles. The black Fruit Pastille, that's an intelligent one. The green, now that one's only good for picking up your dry cleaning. And each with their own little personality!

Has anyone worked out the thing where Brin says:

"The title of my new novel -- the most original thing I've done in years -- is Kiln People, which was published by Tor Books in January 2002."

?

Please let me know if its any good. The Last Brin I read was such a disapointment that I've been reluctant to read his stuff since!

I thought it was a superb example of the "come up with a novel technology and really thoroughly explore the social implications" category of sf. Brin does rather use it as a vehicle for his 'transparent society' ideas and (IMHO) the end goes wrong in a very similar way to how the end of Earth did, but all in all I was very impressed.

You should get some Jelly Babies and act out the fight scenes properly.

I keep wanting to pronounce the title funny: ie "I kil'd him 'cause he just needed kil'n". Must be all that Kit Marlowe I read.
