You know how great it would be to have twins? So you could do all sorts of experiments on them?

Triplets would be even better - you could use two as twins and have one as a control :-)

EDIT: Gah! I should have to shrink the third triplet down very small in my miniaturising device, and use it to stand in for the apostrophe I've missed from the title.

If you've done six impossible things before breakfast, why not finish it off with [livejournal.com profile] bugshaw?

Do you taste good with a salad?

A salad of fava beans, and a nice chianti.

I think it is traditional to use all ones off spring for control

I knew that kids had to be of some use somewhere. Clearly this is it.

Now, if only I had a space ship that travelled at near light speed. And a set of twins.

If you find one, can you send one end of a wormhole with the travelling one please?

My father's parents were both child psychologists. He and his sisters thought this was most unfair :-)

We only have one offspring so are lacking a control. Not that this has stopped us experimenting of course...

Babylab at UCL puts them in an electric hairnet to measure their brain activities, and such was my lust for adult conversation and a free cab ride to the West End I practically beat their door down pimping my offspring to them.
In order to do worthwhile twin experiments you have to have two sets - one identical, and one not, and then give away one of each.

A co-worker of mine had three sisters and a parent who was a dentist. Their father DID actually use them for an experiment, using tooth sealant on two of them, and not on the other, and allowing one of each pair to eat sweets of an evening and the other pair not. I'm not sure how long it went on for but his conclusion was that tooth sealing works and experimenting on your children leads to years of resentment from the duo who didn't get the sweets.

Yeah, sounds about right. My family was quite anal about sharing, to the point of dividing packets of lollies into piles and cutting them up to make sure everyone got exactly the same amount. Bit of a problem with tim tams (biscuits), which have 11 in a packet, specifically to drive us nuts I believe.

Speaking of twin studies, they used to do them down the hallway from where I worked. It was quite freaky some days, walking in and there'd be all these identical people staring at you...

I think I was 12 when I announced that I'd decided, "If I have to have children, I want identical twin boys when I'm 25 [Ed: not too young myself], so that I can find out more about nature vs. nuture." :-)
