It's foolish only if you've not yet discovered the Fine Art of Tie-dying (especially the -- simpler and less spectacular -- subset involving the use of coloured fabric-marker pens that produces a result you don't have to reserve for wearing at a Gathering of Faded (or Neo-) Hippies).
