Now that's what I call rain. Not terribly heavy, but with immense soakfulness. I wish I'd put my Java book inside the carrier bag in my rucksack, rather than just chucking it in on its own. It has just gone a bit warped at the corners, but when I pressed down on the corner beads of water appeared at the edges, and I've never seen that before.

I walked in with [livejournal.com profile] major_clanger across The Meadows, which was like an exciting puzzle-solving game: there are many paths crossing The Meadows; many of them are under water at some point; is it possible to walk across without getting your feet wet? S says it used to be a loch, and it looks like it's trying to turn back into one.

Two hours since I came in, and my jumper is still damp and clammy :-(

Scottish weather, it does that sort of thing. :-)

I can't remember if your flat has an airing cupboard, I suggest sticking the java book in there for a couple of hours if it does.

The book is being very obliging, and the pages aren't turning into a monolithic slab of papier-mâche (which is good as it's a library book - Evil icon being used as it's actually MC's library book), but a stint in a warm place with something heavy on it will probably help. The water here, particularly the rain water, is really making my hair curl too. I could try sitting in the airing cupboard to see if that helps...

Am still damp. I want a job, with an office, where I can keep a spare t-shirt.

Good Lord. I hadn't realised the meadows used to be a loch. I knew about Princes Street Gardens, but had no idea about the old burgh loch.

Apparently so; the Old Town had what were in effect big moats to the north and south.

That sounds very much like a Seattle rain. Not a downpour, but steady and forceful.

I recommend putting book near radiator. It's raining in bits of Cambridge too, so you can pretend you're here instead.
