Years ago, back in Texas, my cat used to leave the occasional lizard half in front of the door, or walk inside with a small bird in his mouth. In fact, one time, here in Colorado, he pounced and came up with a startled-looking mouse trapped inside his jaws, who as far as I can tell has not made a return visit. (It was a catch-and-release.) It's been a long time since he's proudly displayed any trophies. While it's possible he's gotten older in the intervening years, I'm sure he (and I) would contend that the birds and mice have gotten younger and faster.

Heh. I told [livejournal.com profile] ms_cataclysm about the mouse; she thinks it was found conveniently dead and brought in for showing-off with :-)
