John Lewis has excellent simple bed clothes at sensible prices. They also usually have good deals on excellent quality seconds. I always save a chunk of my budget to re-stoke there when I have a trip to London.

Thirded! That's where the current linen is from. And that's probably where I'll go, now I know there isn't a box of linen hidden away somewhere and this really is all I have.
