You could use the wood litter (Beauticat I think it's called) which is soft so therefore quieter. And it smells nicer.

You could also get one of those litter tray boxes which encloses the noise, smell and any kicked up litter - if you haven't already of course!

We have one of those. We're still deafened by the noise of the deaf cat's middle-of-the-night scrabblings and get to walk through the scattered bits in the morning. Does keep the niff down tho'.
